Markus Edelsbrunner
After completing his diploma studies at the University of Vienna in 2019, Dr. Markus Edelsbrunner worked as a university assistant (prae doc) at the Institute for Business Law at the University of Vienna and received his doctorate with distinction in 2023. He wrote his dissertation on the topic “Contract amendments via fictitious consent clauses.” It was published in 2024 and received an award from the Association of Austrian Banks and Bankers.
He then completed his judicial clerkship in the district of the Vienna Higher Regional Court (OLG Wien) and worked as a trainee lawyer specializing in real estate law, while continuing to teach courses at the University of Vienna.
Dr. Markus Edelsbrunner's research and teaching activities to date have focused on civil law, corporate law, and payment services law. These are areas that are strongly influenced by ongoing digitalization and characterized by particular dynamism. It is precisely for these reasons that he values working at the interface between law and IT, which is marked by interdisciplinary collaboration.
