Head of Section Anita Ziegerhofer
Legal history has a long tradition at the University of Graz. We are proud of this and combine history with topicality and progress in our research and teaching. Law is to be understood as a cultural product and the question "Why does law change" is assigned a central role in legal history. We provide answers to this question based on our research in the fields of constitutional, private and criminal law, as well as European law, agricultural law, gender and human rights. We combine the relevance of legal history with current legal phenomena and provide deliberate impulses to derive lessons for the present and future from legal history. In this way, future employees in the legal field are enabled to contribute to future legal developments with well-founded knowledge through an understanding of legal-historical processes.
