Legal Sociology, Legal Policy, Appropriate Dispute Resolution & Mediation
We deal with connections and interrelations between legal and other social phenomena, fundamental nomative issues of legal institution design, and conflict resolutions.
Teaching. Courses are offered in the diploma studies, in the focus area Negotiation Competence and Conflict Management, and in interdisciplinary master programmes (e.g. Political, Economic, and Legal Philosophy; Applied Ethics).
Research. Our research covers empirical and normative issues of legal and political reasoning as well as methods of conflict resolution in general and in particular social contexts.
Projects. Major projects deal with the cornerstones of a conflict culture oriented towards consensus in organisations, citizen participation in the field of administrative law, and pedagogical challenges of knowledge transfer in conflict resolution through Serious Games.
