Diploma theses and dissertations
Section of Legal Sociology, Legal Policy, Appropriate Dispute Resolution & Mediation (ADR)
Diploma theses
Diploma theses at the Section are assigned and supervised by:
- Assoc. Prof. Dr. Thomas Schoditsch
- Univ. Prof. Dr. Sascha Ferz
- Ao. Univ. Prof. Dr. Christian Hiebaum
The key elements you should bring with you to write a Diploma thesis at Sascha Ferz are great enthusiasm and enjoyment of the subject. You are also expected to be committed to academic work, research, investigation and creative thinking. If you have also mastered the art of writing, we will be happy to support and advise you in your project.
Ideally, you will come to the consultation with a proposed topic, which we will then flesh out together. If this seems suitable in principle, you will be asked to write a 10-page synopsis. This should include the planned structure as well as initial literature already collected. After discussing the concept, the topic will be finalized, after which you can start writing.
The development of a Diploma thesis outline by the student takes place independently and is accompanied by one or more outline discussions with the chosen supervisor until the outline is approved.
If the requirements are met, an initial consultation is possible at any time by appointment.
When writing your Diploma thesis, it is important that you adhere to structural and formal guidelines. To help you find your way around and have clarity about the structure and appearance of your Diploma thesis or dissertation right from the start, please follow these guidelines (version: October 2023).
A first main chapter of your Diploma thesis will be reviewed to give you pointers, suggestions and any ideas for improvement for the subsequent parts. Finally, the entire unbound version of your thesis will also be reviewed and commented on in a final meeting before you officially submit it for grading. You are welcome to ask questions during the entire phase.
After completion of the Diploma thesis, a defensio takes place in the form of a discussion on sensitive issues of the thesis.
